Sig Arms (Sig Sauer) One of the hottest pistols on the market, the Sig Arms Mosquito Pistol is perfect for casual shooting. Chambering the .22 Long Rifle round and 90% the size of the P226, the Sig Arms Mosquito is small enough to be handled be even the most delicate shooters. Equipped with a polymer frame and an accessory rail, nothing beats the Mosquito for the price. When you simply demand the best, look no further than the Sig Arms Mosquito Pistol. - Sig Mosquito Pistol< [...]

Sig Sauer MOSQUITO

I like the feel and appearance of this little SIG, but function is a big disappointment,,,,trigger could be better too. My fix for the jamming was to install the heavy recoil spring and switch to hivel Winchester ammo (1330 fps) and CCI Stingers (1640 fps). Firing becomes a bit hotter and torques the gun a tad but I like that..Overall this little pistol is no target piece, but would serve as a good warm up gun before firing a larger cal. pistol with a similar feel.

Reliability of Sig-Sauer Mosquito 22LR Pistol

I too had problems with the pistol not ejecting properly. I was also firing the cheap Federal ammo from Wally World. I went to Remington Thunder Bolt high volicty ammo. It was still inexpensive at $1.63 a box. The pistol has been flawless since and a real joy to fire. Joe is right, the pistol is picky about ammo. I tried 4-5 differents brands untill I setteled on one that works. Sig reccomends CCI ammo and it does work well with it, but expensieve.

This little 22 is very comfortable to handle. As a woman, it has very little kick, is easy to break down, clean, and in general to handle. 22 loads are fairly cheap, so you can get a lot of practice in. First couple of times I had a little problem with the sights, but figured it out, good accuracy for a small arm.

Perfect for New Shooters

The Sig Sauer Mosquito pistol is just an outstanding first-purchase for new gun owners. It's affordable and you can buy loads of ammo for it and not worry about straining your wallet. Just don't buy the cheapest ammo available, the gun will fight it. I suggest CCI mini-mags. I've never had any problems using that ammo.
You can take this gun to the range, shoot off 200 pounds, have loads of fun, all at an affordable price. If you are looking for a gun to protect yourself and your family, then this probably isn't the gun for you. But for loads of fun at the range (or plinking), and for new shooters, this gun is a perfect stepping stone.

Both of my P239/.40's and my P226/9mm operate flawlessly with any ammo, even reloads. I purchased the Mosquito without researching because it is a SIG SAUER, I made the purchase on Sig's reputation and did not think reading reviews would be relevent. I was wrong, the Mosquito is not very true to the Sig Sauer legacy. The trigger is quite hard to pull and feels very sloppy, it has had multiple failure to eject problems with standard high velocity rounds (with the thin spring) I have however, fired the CCI mini mags without any failures.
Good Luck

MOSQIUTO....2ND CHANCE

SINCE MY FIRST COMMENT ON THE FINICKY MOSQUITO, I HAVE FIRED 600 ROUNDS OF HYPER VELOCITY AMMO (USING THE HEAVY SPRING) WITHOUT ONE MALFUNCTION,,,HOWEVER I NOW ONLY LOAD 9 ROUNDS TO A MAGAZINE..SEEMS LIKE 10 GETS THE LITTLE STINKER OFF TO A BAD START AT TIMES. ALSO OILING THE FACTORY OIL HOLE RIGHT SIDE JUST REAR OF EJECTION PORT AND USING LITE OIL ON MAG SPRING HELPS...AFTER 1000 ROUNDS OF WORK-IN I'M GOING BACK TO LIGHT SPRING, MINI MAGS, 9 IN THE MAG AND HOPEFULLY TIGHTER GROUPS...SUGGEST SIG RECALL THE PISTOL,,OR RENAME IT THE H.F.H.M.P (HARLEY FORD HIGH MAINTENCE PISTOL)

The sig i have was almost ready for part exchange for a walther p22 but after buying my first box of cci mini mags she has never looked backed.the sig went from jamming every 3 or 4 rounds to a totally new gun on the mini mags. She always looked good but now shoots good and not a single jam on a cci round,i guess i have put a round 600 or 800 through her.

Mosquito Maddness

It likes the CCI Mini Mags the best and never jams with that stuff (300 rounds so far), it also works well with the remington (gold)but has a feed problem every once in awhile, $15 at wal-mart for 550 rounds. It is fun to shoot and feels great in your hands compared to some .22 pistols, The accuracy isn't too bad but the browning buckmark is better for that. Overall I think this is a great gun.

Sig Mosquito is very ammunition brand sensitive

I'll have to agree with all of the reviews above. I also was disappointed with this little pistol the first time I took it to the range (numerous failures to eject or feed with 4 different types of .22 cal ammo). However, after talking to Sig Customer service and switching to CCI Mini Mags, it works great. They also suggested using the long thin spring, with the narrower end of the spring facing towards the rear of the pistol. I still have about a 2% failure to fire due to light firing pin hits on the primer rims, but that 2% malfunction rate is much better than the 60-80% malfunction rate I had earlier. All in all, if using the right ammunition it is an excellent training pistol if one also owns the larger Sig 229/226 series etc. After all, why bother training with a .22 cal pistol that lacks the same features as your primary 9mm or .40 cal pistol?

Reliability of Sig-Sauer Mosquito Pistol

I absolutely love this gun! I own 6 or 8 other rimfire pistols, but had never even heard of this gun. I saw it at a gun store and decided I needed it. I brought it home and did a little online research, which was almost all negative. I cringed to think I just bought the world's biggest piece of crap. After a trip to the range I was very, very impressed to see my pistol performed better than I expected. I've had great luck with Blazer, Remington Thunderbolt, and CCI (well over 700 rounds now without a single malfunction). Not so great with American Eagle or Winchester (lucky to get through a magazine without a problem). Overall an excellent gun for me.
