the p22 is a great little weapon for any use, i retired after 30 yrs as a leo and still carry everday, my main ccw is a glock 27 but sometimes i drop the p22 in my pocket and feel just as safe with it as the glock. the day i got the p22 i polished the feedramp and it will shoot anything you put in it no problems anywhere after about 700 rounds. when i use it for ccw i use cci stingers, they will do the job when called on. dont let this little gun fool you, it is awesome. dont never let anyone tell you the .22 cal is not powerful enough, i am sure there are a lot of people who have been shot with one who would disagree with you, it they were still around to disagree

Recieved the item promptly and in excellent condition. I broke it down before first firing and did not see any rough edges or millworking marks on any sliding surfaces. I cleaned it thoroughly and headed for the range. I put 200 rounds of CCI minimags round nose through it without a single problem. The gun is very accurate for its barrel length. It''s a keeper!

Owned this P22 for awhile and carry it as much if not more than my S&W .38 because of its light weight. over 500 rounds with no problems, This little gun would stop any threat especially with the cci stingers, i have a ccw and carry daily, dont be afraid to use this gun as a ccw it would do the job if called upon to do so.

Purchsed this just for the plinking of the beer cans after we close up for the day. This was the first .22lr pistol I have purchased. It was this or the Mosquito - gonna get a Mosquito anyway just to compare and have another for someone to shoot too. First - THIS GUN WILL NOT FIRE REMINGTON AMMMO RELIABLY. You can buy one of these if you like and find out for yourself - or - you can just call Walther and they can tell you not to use Remington with it. CCI is reccommended, but many other brands out there work too. We use Federal 550 bulk packs with ours - works decent. Had to ''massage'' the feed ramp for our pistol to work out of the box. A little dremel work]we use a die grinder[ makes fast work of it. Make sure you polish the ramp afterwards. Other than that - Was dead on target out of the box and we currently have about 2000 rounds through it. I think there have been 4 FTF''s - VERY UNDERSTANDABLE due to the cheap ammo we use.

Easy shooting, low kickeven for a .22. Short barrel seems like a good light weight trainer gun for a beginner or for standard plinking. Going to invest in a longer barrel for accuracy practice. Great ergo. Easy controls. Built to beginners and to last.

I just got my new Walther P22 as my first handgun and I already know I am going to like it. I got it mainly for personal defense but this gun need a workout at the range. It is relative sized and weighed such that almost anyone can use it despite the size of your hand. It is great as a CC weapon because of itz compact size but still packs lots of power with my CCI rounds. I has lots of safety features that makes it safer around kids and simply curious folks. Over all I give 2 thumbs up to .22LR

This firearm met all my expectations of a semi-auto .22LR handgun. The controls are very easy to operate, and it is easily disassembled and reassembled for cleaning. In my opinion the quality is very good, the parts fit together nicely for smooth operation. I know it is a .22 but I was amazed that there was virtually no recoil at all. That makes it easy to burn through a clip really fast. I did read some reviews before my purchase that the P22 was picky about the ammo that it likes, but I have not had a problem as of yet with failures to rack or eject. I have mostly been using Remington ammo.
The only thing that I am dissatisfied with is the time that my orders take to process. The area I live in has very few choices as far as gun stores go. The local gun store is not too interested in stocking a large quantity of firearms and other stores within realistic driving range are insanely over priced. So I am left with ordering online and paying the transfer fee, which is still cheaper than the local stores. But when I place my orders it usually takes a week to process, a week to ship and a week waiting period (which is apparently meant to let me think about whether I really want the firearm or not, thanks government). But I guess that’s the price that is paid to get the better deal. In summary I guess, the product is great, Walther makes a quality P22, but I could do with out the wait. Two weeks would be understandable. These cans are not going to put holes in themselves. Oh, also get and extra magazine you will need it.

Also, Military - Spec. Ops. - This is one Bad A_ _ little puppy! Like the Lt. Commander said, it is good in close or as a back up weapon. For civilian CC the weapon is a winner for sure. If you know your weapons you can handle things with this weapon as well as all the CC guys with their .357 or 45 cal. -]No Offence Meant[! Grab you some CCI Stingers and don''t worry cause it won''t let you down. CCI Stingers is one man''s opinion, but for what it is worth there it is! A 45 cal is great, a 9mm can be good, but this little puppy can really bark and spit them out in like fashion on it''s level! It is what it is and no more, but there are no hangs, no MF, bullseye right out of the case. Extremely tight groups, all in the little black dot, from any respectable distance. That seems unusual at first, but I learned it is just par for the course with this weapon! Of course, what would anyone expect from Walther, but this?

I have two of these little pistols one with a laser and on without. They are great fun for plinking. Reassembly is something to pay attention to if done correctly function should be flawless. If not you will have problems with feed and hammer; pay close attention to spring placement. I am looking forward to getting one of the new SP22's. Altough my p22's are not target pistols they gets a 5 for being so much fun to shoot. Every time I let someone use one at the range 10 out of 10 agree on the fun factor.

Before I bought this gun, I asked if it jams, is it any good, etc. I got a mixed bag of answers. It looked good, and I've had a Walther previously, so I bought one. It doesn't jam, but you have to take particular care of how you put in the rounds in the magazine-one by one. If you pull that button on the side all the way down and dump the rounds in the mag, it will jam! Once I got it sighted in, it was as accurate as expected. I always clean my guns. The upside is-NO JAM! It's such a safe, accurate and fun shooter, I bring it everywhere! It is better than I expected!

Easy to disassemble if you use a little piece of plastic to guide the spring pin. I use it as a snake gun, works great! I have owned several other 22 semi auto's, this is by far the best. I have had this pistola for a couple years now. I have not shot a ton of rounds, but I do not believe I have ever had a jam. I use American Eagle, copper plated hollows. I buy the 400-round bricks. Ditto on the other comment about proper loading of the mag and tapping the backside against your palm to "seat" the rounds. Does it make a difference?--well, it doesn't NOT make a difference in my estimation. I have noticed that the selling price of the gun (which has not changed to my knowledge) has increased since I originally bought it.

Almost no problems with HV ammo. Some of the low priced HV ammo seemed under powered. Very few of the low priced ammo actually failed to fire or cycle the gun. If the ammo performed the gun worked fine. I seem to remember one stove pipe with hyper velocity ammo nominal 1450 fps. All the target velocity ammo 1150 fps second worked fine. All the quality HV ammo nominal 1250 fps work without problems. High velocity (HV) is the only ammo recommended in the Walther manual.

It seems a good little pistol. Mine is new today. I put 300 rounds through on its first trip to the range. Only one FTF round in the the last 50 of 300 rounds, otherwise perfect. Statistically excellent for a new weapon. For the nasty 22 mess those rounds leave, it performed well even into "dirty" time. Although I cleaned it and oiled it lightly before its maiden voyage, I did no cleaning or oiling during the session.
Brought it home, field dressed and cleaned it. It looks new again. At first test is it is fine dependable weapon. And I don't understand the complaint about the difficulty of stripping and assembling it. It is not as blindly easy as an M&P, Glock, and maybe requires a bit more dexterity than some others, but, it was mostly 3rd grade level. Don't be afraid.
For accuracy - I am not sure yet. It is not fully broken in. The first few rounds seemed amazingly we placed, but the after 150 or so it (or I) trended left. My first impression was that is has the potential to be good. I compare as good as to a Springfield EMP 9 1911 as excellent for small weapon. I will make adjustments after the 1000 round mark and we will see how it turns out. I expect it is as good as I am!
So - not a comprehensive review of this gun - but for initial quality, at least from me, it gets an A.

New P22 does jam
By Patient plinker
Review Date: 01/04/2009

1/3/08 Xmas present to myself. From day-1 I thought I'd run 500-1000 through the gun before passing judgment. In the first 300 rounds of Winchester Xpert 22 hollow points, about 2 rounds per mag. would jam or misfire. Not great in the category of purchase confirmation. But, based on my other autoloaders, I know I can't just pick up any old box of Chinese surplus ammo and expect results. I watched very closely as my wife fired it. Some empties eject a foot or so back, others don't eject at all but lay in the magazine to be jammed as the slide comes forward. I also notice some new rounds didn't clear the sharply angled ramp, possibly because the slide wasn't blown back far enough. Overall, it should have shipped with an ammo recommendation - like use only 93 octane ammo.

P22 Jamming Claims
By Hoyt
Review Date: 01/09/2009

P22 Jamming? I am a first time gun owner. I figured I would start with something small and fun and work my way up in caliber when I am comfortable. I purchased my P22 new and was told by friend who own guns it would jam constantly. First trip out to the gun range I ran 500 rounds through it WITH NO JAMS, I brought it home, field stripped it, and cleaned it. I just came back from the range and ran an additional 400 rounds with NO JAMS. After speaking to an ammo dealer that was shooting next to me, I was told the reason it's not jamming for me is the rounds I am purchasing. This weapon NEEDS HIGH VELOCITY rounds plain and simple. I use Aguila Supermaximum Hyper Velocity SP 40 Grain and Aguila High Velocity Super Extra Hollow Point 38 Grain and NEVER have a problem. Spend the extra couple of bucks by the high velocity ammo and have fun with the gun instead of being bothered by jamming. HAPPY SHOOTING

I love my P22

I''ve had my P22 for 3 years now and I am still in love with it. I''ve never had it jam using Remington Golden bullets. Every once in a blue moon I get an FTF ]failure to feed[ but that''s due to the mag''s feed lips being warped. My wife did something to that particular mag, I''m not sure what, but thats the only problem I have with mine other than shooting 1000 rounds a day and it getting a little gummed up. If I want to keep shooting I just oil it a little bit and give it a really good cleaning back at the house. Keep them clean and oiled and you shouldnt have any problems. BTW, I use CCI subsonic ammo for supressed shooting and even though the rounds are lower velocity, they cycle the slide just as well as the high velocity rounds do. Hope that helped.
